If you see this I could use some direction. I am writing a book and would like to start one chapter using Forster's quote "we must be willing to let go of the life we have planned". Is there a need for me to obtain permission from someone to use the quote? Many thanks! Cynthia

To be honest I have no idea where this quote could be from. Do you have a source? This could then answer your question.
Generally, it depends very much on where you want to publish your book (or where you live). Have a look at the Wikimedia help texts about copyright, they are really helpful. Also, if you are living in the EU, there is a copyright directive ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Directive ) that might be worth having a look at...
