Can anyone confirm the following quotation from Forster and, if so, where can I find it in his books?
Quotation: "It is the one orderly product our middling race has produced. It is the cry of a thousand sentinels, the echo from a thousand labyrinths; it is the lighthouse which cannot be hidden...the best evidence we can give our dignity."

From what I could find out, it seems this is a quotation from a speech Forster gave to the PEN congress in 1962. It was later quoted in the Monitor.
