we are researching our coursework on Forsters epigraph of 'only connect' in howards end. have have you any comments on its usefulness and purpose?

the first thing you should know is that the quote comes from a walt whitman poem entitled "A Passage to India". The text of the poem is available at http://www.whitmanarchive.org/archive1/works/leaves/1891/text/frameset.html (you should use the bar at the top (Poem index) and scroll down to P)

You might also want to look at the wikipedia article about Forster. Go to www.wikipedia.org, type in a search for E. M. Forster, and scroll down to the section on sexuality.
