Schopenhauer and Nietzsche's influence on Forster?

Posted by Becks (82.36.125.147) on 16:03:59 21/05/04

Does anyone think that A Room with a View has links with Schopenhauer/Nietzsche? I was thinking about George Emerson and the 'eternal Yes', it thinking that it has something to do with the affirmation of the will. Also Cecil Vyse's ascetism positioning him as one on the road to the denial of the will to life.

Schopenhauer and Nietzsche are mentioned in the text, and i thought that maybe Forster was influenced in some way?

Any comments/ideas?

Cheers,

Becks
