You can find photos of 'H.O.M.' or Hugh Meredith in several Forster biographies, like 'E. M. Forster: A Life' by P.N. Furbank. If you email me at template.php3?t=mail&to=laura I can email you a scan if you like, just let me know!

Thank you

Dear Laura,

Thank you very much for your information and
so sorry for my late reply.

I am the person posted the request on Aspects of E.M. Forster Message Board sight
for seeking Homeredith's pic in Oct.

Actually, I did not expect I could get the information from someone,
since I retrieved to obtain his pic hundreds times until then
I was delighted and excited when seeing your reply.
If I had checked the homepage from timre to time,
I could have contacted you earlier.....

If possible, please give me more information about the Forster
biographies that you mentioned.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

OP from Japan

If you e-mail to template.php3?t=mail&to=laura, I can e-mail you a scan of one of the photos.

Photos of Hugh Meredith can be found in e.g.:

P.N. Furbank

E.M. Forster: A Life.

First edition is from 1977 and 1978 (in two volumes). Later one-volume editions are abounding, you could try www.amazon.com or other (on-line) second hand bookstores. This is THE classic Forster biography.

In fact, there would hardly seem to be a Forster biography that does not feature Hugh Meredith - he was such a very important influence. You could also have a look in Nicola Beauman's 'Morgan - a Biography of E.M. Forster' (the American edition is called 'E. M. Forster: A Biography'). And 'E.M. Forster and his World' by Francis King is also of interest. Beauman's is the more speculative approach, King is a nice addition to Furbank. However, there are numerous 'live and work'-style books that offer a nice insight as well. The very best of these would probably be 'The Cave and the Mountain: A Study of E.M. Forster', by Wilfred Stone. This is a very detailed and well-researched book. For particular info on Howards End and its origins the captivating 'Forster Country' by Margaret Ashby is a great source. Hope this helps!
