censorship

Posted by Julia Greenwood (212.67.108.18) on :20:33:56 10/05/02

I know that Forster fought against censorship and spoke against it many times. Does anyone know of any documentation regarding the censorship of James Hanley's "Boy"? I believe he agreed to speak about it at a conference in Paris in 1935 but I can't find anything concrete.
If anyone can shed any light on this, please do.

Julia

The episode of Forster's addressing the Paris congress in June 1935 and citing the prosecution of 'Boy' as an example of creeping fascism is described in the second volume of Furbank's biography, pp. 1913.
